Whole Sun Month 2 (alias: Whole Sun Fortnight)
Proposed points to be worked on:
1) Filament eruption on August
14/15
Data availability (details of magnetic
field observations):
-
Mees: IVM, 14, filament+nearby AR 8301
-
Kitt Peak: 14; 15 only one synoptic image (l.o.s. B)
-
Yohkoh
-
TRACE
-
OVRO?
-
IPS? (A. Breen should provide more info by mid-April)
Comments:
-
Data set fairly complete on August 14, except for Sac Peak ASP.
-
Even two Kitt Peak scans in He I 10830 -> spectroscopic information ->
velocities?
-
On August 15 (post-eruption), almost no magnetic observations, with the
exception of one IVM scan of AR 8301 and one KP synoptic map.
-
Possible work in conjunction/contrast with sigmoid observations of WSM3.
Possible people involved: Alexander, Andretta, Breen, D. Gary, Gibson,
H. Jones, Metcalf, ...
2) AR 8304 (sigmoid?) on August 20
Data availability (details of magnetic
field observations):
-
Mees: both IVM and HSP
-
Sac Peak/ASP: no observations on this target
-
Kitt Peak: one synoptic map (l.o.s. B)
-
Yohkoh
-
TRACE
-
OVRO?
Comments:
-
Redundant with sigmoid observations of WSM3?
Possible people involved: Alexander, D. Gary, Gibson, Leka, Metcalf, ...
3) AR 8307/8310
Data availability (details of magnetic
field observations):
-
Mees: IVM+HSP, 20...24
-
Sac Peak/ASP: 20...24
-
Kitt Peak: synoptic maps
-
Yohkoh: 20/21
-
TRACE
-
OVRO?
Comments:
-
Fairly continous sequence of observations from Sac Peak and Mees.
-
Yohkoh observed interesting things on August 20/21, but AR too close to
limb for useful magnetic field information (?). For the rest of the period
(AR closer to meridian), TRACE should have good data.
-
One possible approach would be to focus on one or two days only with good
magnetic field measurements.
Possible people involved: Alexander, Andretta (?), D. Gary, Leka,
Metcalf, Mikic, ...
4) Comparison photospheric/chromospheric B

Maybe to be included in one of the above projects.
