A work in preparation, this monograph focusses on the
problem of heating the corona of the Sun.
The justification for such
a new book, and a PRELIMINARY
table of contents may be found in this pdf file.
The book is intended for advanced undergraduates and graduate students of physics or applied mathematics, in that it assumes familiarity with electrodynamics, thermodynamics, kinetic theory, and the usual accompanying mathematics.
The text of the book is condensed in an attempt to provide a guide to the essentials- defining the problem, presenting critical observations, and discussing the essential physical processes from first principles. Therefore, there is an accompanying (and also PRELIMINARY) web page which discusses the development of the subject from an historical perspective.
