Kim Nesnadny
Kim is a new member of the Computer Systems Management Team in HAO, and brings over 14 years of professional systems administration experience. She began doing systems work while employed with United Airlines in San Francisco in 1991. In addition to project work, she supported Macintosh and Windows systems worldwide, and taught support and software courses to United's Systems Analysts and Field Support Technicians.
Shortly after transferring to Denver, Kim left United and started her own computer system support company in Boulder. She specialized in setting up and maintaining Macintosh servers and networks, and integrating them with Windows systems and servers. While she enjoyed working with local businesses in Boulder, a friend referred her to a NCAR Systems Administrator opening, and she jumped at the opportunity. Kim began working with NCAR in the Climate and Global Dynamics Division in 1999. She worked in CGD for 5 years total.
Kim left NCAR in 2002 to take a 4-year break from computer support. She became a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, specializing in sports performance massage, whiplash injuries, and chronic pain syndromes such as fibromyalgia.
Kim graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Telecommunications. Her favorite activities include hiking, skiing and camping. She enjoys studying complimentary health care such as massage, energy work and nutritional therapies. She volunteered at the Colorado Horse Rescue for several years, where she maintained their computers and provided care for the horses. She lives with her husband, Olaf and their spoiled cat, Onyx in a cabin in Pinewood Springs.
Kim's office is located in CG1, Room 3188. She can be reached at: 303-497-1390 or by email: kimn(at)ucar.edu
