of the HAO Instrumentation Program and provides oversight to the Instrumentation Group.
The HIAC is advisory to the HAO Director.

HAO Scientific Advisory Committee: This external committee advises on the scientific direction
of the High Altitude Observatory. This may include participation in planning retreats, providing
comments on documents that describe divisional plans such as the Strategic Plan and documents
prepared for the National Science Foundation review of the Division, and advising on the need for
and the plans suggested by specific programs within the Division. Site visits by the committee are
held once every two years.

Visitor Committee: This internal committee provides oversight to the HAO Visitor Program
that strives to enhance scientific and educational contacts between HAO and the national and
international solar and solar-terrestrial communities. The program provides financial support
for undergraduate and graduate students, post-graduate researchers, and senior visitors.
